As the Asian Championships end on a high note for the Indian wrestlers, United World Wrestling also released fresh ranking for the wrestlers among which six women wrestlers from India come in the top 10 list.

Indian squad ranked number three on the medal tally but it was the performance of the women wrestlers that was the most noteworthy.

India had been producing quality wrestlers for quite a some time now but it was only in 2018 that an Indian got a gold at the Asian Championships, which was bagged by Navjot Kaur in a non-olympic category.

It was in 2020 when Divya Kakran went ahead and broke all the barriers to win a gold in an olympic category which led her to jump 15 spots, 21 in the world to 6 in the world. She was not the only one to achieve this feat.

Nirmala Devi also jumped from 24 rank to 6 in the world with her silver medal finish. Talented Anshu, who played in the senior category for the first time, grabbed the gold and jumped five ranks to seventh place.

This championship did benefit the wrestlers' ranking but it was only Vinesh phogat who dropped a spot to number three and lost the spot to her opponent in the opening match of Asian Wrestling Championships, Mayu Mukaida.

Apart from these four wrestlers, two grapplers are from the non-Olympic category — Pooja Danda, Pinki. Pinki competed in the 55kg category and won gold. With her first podium finish, she has entered the top 10 club. As for Pooja, she lost in trials to Anshu and did not feature in the continental tournament. She is still ranked ninth in UWW rankings.
