India continue their impressive run at the senior Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship as they defeated an unseeded Oman. India pulled off a 22-25, 25-12, 25-21, 25-19 win in four sets.

This was India’s third and final group stage fixture of the tournament where they finished second and moved to the knockouts. India ranked 131, begin their campaign with a five-set thriller against Kazakhstan who are ranked much higher at 39. In their second match on Saturday, India went down against China ranked 20th,16-25, 15-25, 21-25.

With this win, India keeps their hope alive for the Olympics and made their way to the Asian Olympic Qualifiers which will be held in January 2020.

The Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship doubles up as an Olympic qualifying event, with the top two teams from each group moving to the 2020 Men’s Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament, to be held in China in January next year.

It was 2005, India made their best finish in the tournament where they stood fourth. In 2015, India's previous outing, the team finished 11th.
