Unhappy with the result, Aizawl FC fans throw bottles at Mohun Bagan players

Mohun Bagan was reportedly harassed by the fans of Aizawl FC after their match at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Thursday afternoon. The team was stuck on the ground after the match ended and the bottles were thrown at the players after the fans were left unsatisfied with the outcome of the match. The match ended 1-1, with both the teams gaining a point from the encounter. This result won't help either team in the context of the championship. Needing a win, both the teams went for the kill, although the first 70 minutes of the match was rather scrappy. In the 73^rd minute, substitute Lalthathanga Khawlhring scored the first goal for the hosts. Though the shot was initially saved by Bagan's goalkeeper Shilton Paul, the ball eventually found the back of the net after Ricky failed to kick it out of the danger zone. Five minutes later, the green and maroon's Lebanese recruit Akram Moghrabi received a gem of a pass and had only the keeper to beat, but Abhilash Paul was found guilty and a penalty was awarded. Striker Manandeep Singh converted from the spot to equalise. Following that, the match was alive, with both the team's playing brilliant football trying to secure the three points from the important fixture. Although the score remained same, many of the decisions taken by referee went against Aizawl FC which tempted the local fans to react. The referee can make mistakes, after all, they are humans, but undisciplined acts on the ground should be aborted for the sake of Indian football. It is not the first time that the Aizawl FC fans are warned; they have done a similar thing in the past. Hopefully, the AIFF will take proper steps after the incident. The supporters should be more responsible because throwing bottles at the rival team will not overturn the scoreline!
