Kolkata giants' Mohun Bagan and the top officials there forcefully elect stalwart Swapan Sadhan Bose as its President after a series of unfortunate events occurred at the club ground a few moments before the start of their Annual General Meeting (AGM). It was also decided that the club will be converted into a Public Limited Company in the future.

Despite a lot of interference, the AGM was finally conducted in between a chaotic evening! Throwing light into the matter, club secretary Anjan Mitra said, "We are converting the club from private limited to public limited for the greater good of the club. We have been trying for 10 years to make it a private limited company but later we found that if we cannot involve the members then we are on the wrong path." The club was in shambles after the majority of the previous executive committee members resigned from their respective posts owing to the non-cooperation received from the top management.

Unfavourable situations prevailed at the club as the difference of opinions between the club secretary and other members often led to confusion and internal tension. The century-old club needs to find a way to attain its administrative stability.

With the Calcutta Football League to kick off next month, the green and maroon brigade will not want off the pitch events to affect their performance inside the pitch! Apart from the topic mentioned above, Mohun Bagan has also expressed its willingness to play in the cash-rich Indian Super League but they are yet to fulfil the required criteria. "This year East Bengal will play ISL. We have been also asked whether we want to play ISL or not. They have also given us the green signal that we can play from Kolkata. A 10-year agreement with 40 crores per year sponsor is needed. Only then we can play ISL," said President Swapan Sadhan Bose.
