Srinivasa Gowda is now a familiar name for the people on social networking websites. Gowda has been dubbed as the 'Usain Bolt' of India. The 28-year-old is a Kambala Jockey who has been training with his buffaloes for the most part of his life. There have been claims that the buffalo jockey running 100 m out of a total of 145m in 9.55 seconds. It prompted India's Union Sports minister Kiren Rijju to invite Gowda for a trial at Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Bangalore.

The Olympians and top coaches who had assembled at the SAI center in Banglore on 17th February were left disappointed as the rural hero was late for the meet as he met Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Deputy Chief Minister, Ashwanth Narayan before turning up at the SAI center. Gowda was awarded Rs 3 lakh as cash prize by the state's labor department.

One of the SAI officials said that Gowda's trials will be done only after he finishes his Kambala season next month.

SAI senior director, capt. Ajay Kumar said his team will leave no stone unturned to improve his natural prowess provided that the 28-year-old is ready to take the plunge.

"He says he is busy till march and will only be available after his season end. From there, we have to start fresh as he needs to be groomed completely. He hasn't said no," Ajay Kumar said.

When quizzed if age will be a limiting factor, the SAI official said that it will be tough. "Age is not on his side but various other things are like his built. He should be a willing guy because his financial situation is not great. So all these things will matter too."

While Rijiju has promised to conduct a proper trial and if there is any talent, then it will take him into the national camp.
