The Bridge had a freewheeling conversation with Sunny Singh, CEO - Van Hawke Sports”

Q1: What’s the target of your first year of starting operations in India?

Our venture into the Indian market was a natural progression of the services we provide to both sports rights holders and brands. We have had a number of dealings to date within the domestic market and one common request was the need for the company to have a local presence. We are fortunate to have already built a sector leading team that operates solely within India, and we expect to hit the ground running, to continue serving our clients and facilitate partnerships between brands and the correct sports properties that best meet their objectives. Our first outpost is in Hyderabad, however we plan to add more in other cities by the end of the year.

Q2: Indian market is different & not that organised as compared to the UK. Have you taken this into consideration? If yes, would you like to share something on this.

Yes, this is something which we have taken into account and believe with our wealth of experience gained during our work with many international sports we will be able to add immediate value, convenience and choice to those brands seeking sports partnerships. Our aim is to bridge the gap between brands and sports rights holders via education. We plan to actively assist with the development of the Indian sports sector which is one of the fastest growing globally, and have a number of grass roots initiatives planned to support this.

Q3: Any specific plans for Olympic sports or globally famous sports like football, rugby and Adventure Sports?

Similar to other sports these particular facets provide a number of opportunities for Indian brands to meet their marketing and sales objectives. We currently operate an extensive global sports network of over 350 rights holders, and are already working within the categories mentioned. We plan to make these sports more accessible for those Indian brands seeking partnerships of this type and look forward to further assist the rights holders that operate within.
