As the world has been gripped by the COVID-19 pandemic, India has taken the measure of a 21-day lockdown in the country where the Prime Minister urged everyone to stay indoors. However, amid this lockdown, there have been reports of people unable to fend their daily needs and ration. One such news came from New Delhi on Wednesday, where Indian women's Kho Kho team Captain, a 2019 gold medalist Nasreen was found in dire situation, without any support.

An organisation called Purani Dilli Walo Ki Baatein (PDWKB), which works in restoring the culture and heritage of Old Delhi and Shahjahanabad jumped to help Nasreen and her family and provide them with basic amenities. The organisation, on their Instagram handle, posted:

We received information that Nasreen - the Indian Kho Kho team Captain, a 2019 gold medalist is in dire need of immediate help. Her family was running short of basic necessities and funds. We immediately reached out to her and delivered sufficient ration for a month and cash/-. People who glorify nation are often neglected.. We request everyone to keep a check around and reach out for help whosoever needs?

We as a country often neglect our athletes who brought glory to nation and this is a starc example of such ignorence. Nasreen led the Indian Kho Kho team to win a gold medal at the South Asian Games last year. Her father Mohammad Gafoor sells steel utensils on the streets on most days and on some days, he earns a maximum margin of Rs 30 in the weekly markets.
