Ritu Phogat beats Jomary Torres in first round, improves her pro MMA record

Ritu Phogat continued maintaining her winning streak in MMA career as she beat beating Jomary Torres of the Philippines by technical knockout.

Ritu Phogat continued maintaining her winning streak MMA career as she beat beating Jomary Torres of the Philippines by technical knockout at the One Championship: Big Bang promotion on Friday. Phogat moves to 4-0 while Torres dropped to 4-5 following the contest that was stopped by the referee 3 minutes and 55 seconds into the first round of their fight in Singapore.

The unbeaten Indian showed her dominance on the ground as she quickly took her Filipina opponent down the canvas early into their battle.

Torres put up a gallant stand defensively with her half guard, but Phogat found an opening to land her forearm shots that forced the referee to call it a knockout at the 3:55 mark of Round 1.

Phogat stays unbeaten with her fourth win in as many professional mixed martial arts bouts.

Torres, on the other hand, fell to her fifth straight defeat since going 4-0 to start her own MMA career.

Phogat would now be hoping a career boost with the ONE Championship’s announcement that the women’s atomweight (52.2 kg) belt would be up for grabs following reigning titleholder Angela Lee’s announcement of her pregnancy.
