Tennis star Sania Mirza responded to the plea of a 14-year-old girl Anees, who is in dire need of funds to undergo a heart surgery, assuring her that her team would contact her soon and provide the teenager with the necessary help.

The plea came from Ketto, Asia's most trusted and visited crowdfunding platform that helps people raise funds for charity, creative ideas or for personal needs.

The plea was uploaded by Qhamar, Anees' mother. Her husband, a flower seller at a Dargah has been praying all night for his daughter's well-being ever since it came to light that she was suffering from congenital heart disease and that she would need an urgent open heart surgery.

Anees, a huge fan of Sania Mirza, requires Rs 5 lakh for the operation, without which, in Qhamar's words, "we will be unable to fund our child's life saving treatment." The family has already sold off their valuables and has taken loans from friends and family, but have not been able to raise the amount needed for the operation.

Qhamar approached Ketto, following which the organisation tagged Mirza in a Twitter post. The tennis icon responded, and sent her good wishes to Anees and her family.

Qhamar's entire plea reads, "My name is Qhamar and I am the mother of Anees. My husband works as a flower seller and barely manages to make ends meet. I was shattered when I first found out about my daughter’s disease. My child is 14 years old and has been diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Her condition is worsening and without an urgent open heart surgery, she will not be able to survive.

The doctors have informed us that her condition is critical and we require Rs 5 lakh to save our child. She has turned extremely weak and I feel helpless as I am in no position to comfort her. I haven’t been able to sleep and the thought of losing my child haunts me all day.

We have already sold off our valuables and even taken loans from our family and friends, but we still are unable to fund our child’s life-saving treatment. I watch my child bear unimaginable pain while she is battling between life and death. We urgently need your support; else we will lose our child. Please help us."
