Odisha-born lifter Jhilli Dalabehera collected the Bronze medal at the 2018 IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships, being held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In doing so, the youngster became just the second woman after Saikhom Mirabai Chanu to achieve this feat.

The 19-year-old lifter has been doing well in the Junior circuits for some time now. She rose to fame when she broke three state records on her way to the Gold medal in the 31st Women State Weightlifting Championships, held in Behrampur in 2015.

At a national level, Dalabehera won two golds and a silver medal at the 11th Sub-Junior National Weightlifting Championships before repeating the feat at the Junior Women National Weightlifting Championship.

Dalabehera's first international medal came in 2016 when she won the silver medal in 48 kg junior weight category at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships. She then did the same two years later at Gold Coast, only this time the color of the medal was gold.

On Saturday, Dalabehera achieved something which has not been achieved by many before her. In fact, only Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (CWG Gold medalist) has repeated the feat once before.

Dalabehera bagged the bronze medal at the in the 2018 IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships at Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The youngster lifted 167 kg (75 kg + 92 kg) to claim the third place on the podium. 

The youngster's latest win reiterates her position as one of the best weightlifting prospects in the country.

Having achieved so much at a young age, hopes will no doubt will be very high with Jhilli Dalabehera. Only time will tell if she indeed joins the pantheon full of weightlifting greats, one of whose feat she repeated on Saturday at Tashkent.
