CH Jhansi Lakshmi star as A women's cricketIndia A registered their first win of the Under-23 T20 Challenger Trophy over India C by nine wickets at Siechem Stadium in Puducherry on Friday (December 13).

India A won the toss and chose to field first. Their decision became fruitful as Krutikaben struck on the second ball of the first over and dismissed opener Kajal Jena for a 2-ball duck. The next over saw the dismissal of Rashmi for run-a-ball 4. Following that, Renuka Chaudhari took the charge, scored 22 off 25 before getting dismissed by the throw from Amanjot Kaur.

Later, Sheetal scored 17 before Jhansi struck and cleaned up Sheetal and Kanika Ahuja (4) in the span of two balls. At 60 for 8 after 17 overs, Utkarsha Pawar and Suman Meena tried to build the ship and added 24 runs to take India C to a total of 84 for 8. Both Jhansi Lakshmi and Krutikaben picked up 2 wickets each for India A.

While chasing, India A lost their opener Chitra Singh Jamwal very cheaply. However, their target was reduced to 30 runs in five overs where Jhansi Lakshmi scored a 16-ball 20, including 2 boundaries and took the side to the finish line with 5 balls to spare. Although like the last game, Sheetal Rana failed to bring that magic back, her team will compete with India B in the final on December 15.

Brief scores: India C: 84-8 in 20 overs (Renuka Chaudhari 22; CH Jhansi Lakshmi 2-4) lost to India A: 30-1 in 4.1 overs (CH Jhansi Lakshmi 20*; Renuka Chaudhari 1-9) by nine wickets (VJD method).
