India’s track sensation Hima Das has passed the class XII exam with flying colours. Hima has scored first division with letter marks in Assamese subject. The result of the exams conducted by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council was announced on Saturday. At the results, her parents and family members were excited and appreciated her interests in the studies. “We are happy at the results. In spite of the tight training schedules, she studied properly and got the first division. We are thankful to the teachers,” said Ranjit Das, father of Hima. She appeared for her exams at her native place at Dhing College in Nagaon district in Assam in February. Among others, she scored 63 in English, 84 in Assamese, 75 in Political Science, 67 in Education. Hima couldn’t be reached for her reactions as she is undergoing training in Poland.
“I feel great today to be appearing in the exam with my friends with whom I used to do attend classes and do mischievous stuff. I would like to continue with my game simultaneously.
Because to have the educational qualification is also important. If I don’t continue my study, how would I speak in English abroad,” said Hima had said during her exam time. Nipon Das, Hima’s coach who first spotted the talent, said that she is doing fine. “Hima is undergoing training which is a part of the preparation for the World Championship to be held in Doha. She has recovered from the back problem. We spoke several hours back. I’m happy that she scored well on the exam. I know whatever she does, she gives her 100 percent,” Nipon told The Bridge. Hima who became the first Indian athlete to win the gold at the youth world championship at the track event in July last year at the World Youth Athletic Championship in Finland has also thanked her teachers for lending a helping hand to pursue her dreams in education.
