Football: U-17 World Cup star Aniket Jadhav set to train at Blackburn Rovers

India’s U-17 World Cup star Aniket Jadhav has been summoned for a three-month training session at English club Blackburn Rovers. The former Premier League winner is owned by Indian business tycoon Venky Mysore, even though the outfit now plays in the Championship currently. This will be the first time that an Indian professional footballer will train at Blackburn Rovers when he joins the Academy at Brockhall village, in Lancashire. The Kohlapur-based footballer was part of the Indian Arrows team which represents in the I-League. "For someone coming from a small place in Kolhapur, it's a dream come true for me. "I'm looking forward to this stint. The World Cup was a big experience and this is equally big and it keeps me on track with the mission when I left home as a nine-year-old kid," said the footballer before leaving for the United Kingdom. He added, “I would like to thank Blackburn Rovers FC for believing in me and my ability and inviting me to train at their world-class Academy.” The striker started his career under Jaideep Angiwal before he played he was picked by Pune FC and subsequently in India’s U17 squad for the 2017 FIFA World Cup. Balaji Rao, the owner of the Blackburn Rovers Football Club welcomed the young footballer in the academy which he claims to be one of the finest Category 1 Academy in the UK. The VH group (Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group) bought the club back on November 10 for a sum of 23 million pounds. "We, as supporters of the sport, especially football, want to help young Indian talent. Our Academy at Blackburn Rovers is one of the finest Category 1 Academy in the UK. This training stint will help Aniket to develop technology as a player, which will, in turn, contribute to the improvement of his performances on the pitch", said Balaji Rao.
