Saifai (Uttar Pradesh), 20 January 2018: Action in the 8th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship 2018 (A Division) continued today into its fourth day here in Saifai, Uttar Pradesh which saw Sports Authority of India, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha, Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Punjab and Manipur Hockey, all winning their respective Pool matches.
In the first match of the day, Sports Authority of India continued their fine form in Pool A as they beat Hockey Karnataka 2-0. Goals for Sports Authority of India came in either half as in the first half, Rahul Singh Yadav converted a penalty corner for them in the 35th minute which was followed by Sarada Nand Tiwari scoring from a penalty stroke to give his team a deserved 2-0 win.
In another Pool A match, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha returned to winning ways as they came from a goal down to beat Delhi Hockey with a scoreline of 5-1. It was Delhi Hockey who had taken the lead in the 32nd minute as Prashant found the back of the net. However, in the second half, Hockey Gangpur-Odisha scored five goals to register the win. Goals for the victors were scored by captain Sudeep Chirmako (40', 51'), Sumit Kindo (46'), Deepak Ekka (48') and Amandeep Lakra (64').

In Pool B, Hockey Chandigarh and Hockey Haryana played out a 2-2 draw in an entertaining match. It was Hockey Haryana who went ahead in the match as they struck two goals before halftime through Pankaj (20') and Ankush (30'). However, Hockey Chandigarh made a comeback in the second half to equalise the scores at 2-2. Goals for Hockey Chandigarh were scored by Harpreet Singh (47') and Manjot Singh (54').
In the next Pool B match, Hockey Jharkhand registered their first victory of the competition as they beat Hockey Andhra Pradesh with a scoreline of 6-4. It was an entertaining game as both sides looked to attack each other from the start, however it was Hockey Andhra Pradesh who went into the halftime break in front as they led 2-1 and had extended it to 4-1 after 47 minutes. But Hockey Jharkhand made a stunning comeback in the second half as they scored five goals in the last 20 minutes to win the match 6-4. Goals for Hockey Jharkhand were scored by skipper Amardeep Samrat Kujur (2', 58', 69'), Abhishek Mundu (52', 65') and Birsa Oreya (50') while Hitesh Rao Lekkala (37', 47'), Ragaha Vendra Rao (5') and Charan Kumar Mareppagari (14') scored for Hockey Andhra Pradesh.
In Pool C, Hockey Punjab won their second match of the competition as they defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 5-2. The victors displayed some inspiring hockey in the first half as they took a 3-0 lead into the half-time break and then extended it to five goals after Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy had scored two goals and looked to find the equalizer. Goals for Hockey Punjab were scored by Bharat Thakur (35', 60', 67'), Simranjot Singh (11') and Araijeet Singh (28') while Adarash Hardua (40', 43') scored a brace for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy.
In another Pool C match, Manipur Hockey defeated Chhattisgarh Hockey in a comfortable manner as they won 10-2. Manipur Hockey scored five goals in either half to wrap up an impressive win. Goals for Manipur Hockey came through Dingku Sharma Gurumayum (46', 51'), Stelin Singh Irengbam (52', 53'), Priybata Roy Talem (6'), Amujao Singh Sorenshangbam (19'), Thonglen Thokchom (22'), Amarjit Ningombam (23'), Ricky Tongam (33') and captain Niraj Kumar Waribam (44') while Chhattisgarh Hockey's skipper Tarun Kumar (25', 39') scored a brace for his team.
