With just two fixtures left for each team, the ISL has gotten to that stage where it is all in or nothing for those in the run. For the likes of FC Goa, ATK and Bengaluru FC, it is all about the permutation and combination that will see them finish the league stage and book the AFC Champions League spot. For the others, namely Chennaiyin FC, Mumbai City FC, Odisha FC and Jamshedpur FC it is about getting the final playoff spot at any cost.

First off, FC Goa and ATK FC have already qualified for the playoffs. They did so in style, with wins over Hyderabad FC and Odisha FC respectively. Mumbai City FC engineered a thrilling 2-1 win over Jamshedpur FC to boost their top 4 aspirations while Northeast United and Kerala Blasters played out a 0-0 draw. The high-voltage Southern Derby between Chennaiyin FC and Bengaluru FC also ended in a scoreless draw while the Highlanders played out a thrilling 3-3 draw against Jamshedpur FC in the last game of the week.

Takeaways from Week 12

ATK and FC Goa have been the most thrilling teams this season

ATK and FC Goa have been, by far the most consistent teams in the ISL so far and that was proved by how they became the first teams to qualify for the playoffs. They have also scored the most goals between them this season and the final could as well be in between these heavyweights.

Gyan’s loss completely derailed Northeast’s season

Robert Jarni, Northeast United’s manager was sacked after their 3-3 draw against Jamshedpur FC and a lot of it has to do with the fact that they have been downright poor since December. Rooted to the second last spot on the table, there is no doubt that the lack of a creative force and a good striker has troubled the Highlanders deeply.

Matches to look forward to in Gameweek 13:

FC Goa v Mumbai City FC

A critical tie given what both teams aim to accomplish, this could see a lot of fireweorks.

ATK FC v Chennaiyin FC

One team challenging for the AFC CL spot and the other for a playoff spot, this could be a feisty encounter as well.
