Southampton FC's U-14s were stopped by Bengaluru FC's U-15s on the first day of the PL-ISL Next Generation Mumbai Cup tournament at the Reliance Corporate Park Football Ground in Navi Mumbai on 24 February.

There was some hard fought football on display from both the teams. The English side was restricted by the Blue Colts in the first half. The Blues denied their opponents an opener, as young midfielder, Lalhminchhuanaga, put in a vital block.

But the English side was not to give in yet especially with a midfielder like Joseph who unleashed a superb effort to curl the ball into the net from nearly 25-yards away.

Their lead, however, was short-lived as merely four minutes later, Bengaluru struck back as Monirul Molla leapt the highest and got his team back in the game. Eventually, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Chelsea's U-14 side also scripted an impressive 3-1 victory against the Reliance Foundation Young Champs outfit.

The Reliance Foundation Young Champs began the match in fine style with an early goal in the sixth minute through some brilliance by Silajit Santra. The hosts tried to keep Chelsea at bay but could not hold on for long as the London Blues overturned the deficit with three goals in the space of 16 minutes.

Meanwhile, Manchester United FC U-14s dominated proceedings against FC Goa's U-15 side and won the game by an imposing 4-0 margin.

Results of the matches:

Chelsea FC (Chinonso Chibueze 30', Reiss Alexander-Denny 35’, Jack Phillips 46’) 3-1 Reliance Foundation Young Champs (Silajit Santra 6’).

Bengaluru FC's (Monirul Molla 22’) 1-1 Southampton FC (Joseph Andrews 18’)

Manchester United FC (Tomas Jones 6’,13’, Jack Lee Moorhouse 15’, Haseeb Ogunneye 50’] 4-0 FC Goa
