Balancing work life and other personal interests is not something for the faint hearted. There are decisions to be made, deadlines to be met and more importantly expectations to be fulfilled. Not many people can manage to find a balance in their lives so easily but as is with the many aspects of life, there are few who make it possible. Mr Krishna Prakash(IPS) leads a different life altogether. On Wednesday, he has become the first Indian Civil Servant, Government Employee and a Uniformed Indian Officer to finish an Iron Man Triathlon and enter the World Book of Records for having such a distinguished title and achievement.

The event which is widely considered one of the toughest sport and endurance events in the world involves swimming(4km),cycling(180 km) and running(40km) for a continuous period of time and within a specific time period. Just two years ago, in a similar event Krishna Prakash became an Ultraman when he won the Ultraman Championship in Australia. He has continued with his trend of winning such competitions and has duly been recognised for his years’ worth of hard work, dedication and service.

A defined history maker, Krishna Prakash is someone who exemplifies what the true spirit of the Indian government service is all about. He has not just made himself stand out but has also changed the perception of those individuals who comprise membership of Indian governmental services. He has also served in conflicted regions such as Malegaon and Gadchiroli as an IPS officer, thus setting the precedent for generations of individuals who wish to aspire for the Indian Services. He has truly shown India and the world that it is possible to maintain oneself in the capacity of an established and well qualified individual with set motives and a focused personal life. He has done the nation proud through this accolade and one can only expect more such momentous occasions in the near future.
