In a heart-warming gesture, Gokulam Kerala FC will donate the revenue from their ticket sale from their next I-League match against Churchill Brothers to the family of late footballer Dhanarajan Radhakrishnan. The match will be played on January 26.

The club has also decided against printing complimentary passes for the same cause. It hopes to make maximum revenue from this game.

Dhanarajan died due to cardiac arrest on 29th December, 2019 while playing in an All-India Sevens tournament at Perinthalmanna in Malappuram district of Kerala. He suddenly collapsed after feeling breathlessness and chest pain.

He collapsed in the 27th minute of the match, raising his

left hand before collapsing.

Radhakrishnan began his career at erstwhile Chirag United and played professional football for close to 11 years. Besides one of the star players at Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, he had also represented Mohammedan Sporting Club from 2012-14.

“We have decided to help the family of Dhanarajan by giving all the match-day revenue from the ticket sales to his wife. We have already invited the family for the match. The club would like to help them and show respect to the footballer,” said Gokulam Gopalan, the chairman of Gokulam Kerala FC to ANI.

“His death was really a shocker for the football fraternity

in the country. We know several people have decided to help his family. We also

wanted to contribute and as a football club we feel it as our responsibility to

do so,” he said.

“We request everyone to assist us and contribute to this

cause. Our gallery tickets are priced just Rs 50 while VIP tickets are priced

at Rs 100. I hope every football lover will give their contribution to help the

footballer’s family,” he added.
