In such a fast life that we are living, we hardly have time for ourselves. We don't look after ourselves as much as we should. Fitness has become a concept of strenuous activity, somethings that tires and exhausts you. In a time like this, fitness model Padmavati Iyengar stepped in and made it clear for all that making your workout strenuous is a very restrictive thought. "The concept of a workout having to be 'strenuous' is very restrictive. It should, of course, challenge you but the whole point of being fit is to be able to move well. As long as you're moving well, you're fine."

Padmavati has an experience of conducting almost 200 workshops for over 10,000 people across the country. Having worked with some of the biggest fitness brands, being featured on multiple publications and being one of the fitness influencers for the government of India’s HumfittohIndiaFit campaign launch along with Milind Soman, Suniel Shetty and some of the best Fitness influencers in the country, Padmavati is one of the top Zumba experts in India.

She highlights the importance of knowing 'why' in life. 'Why' do you want to do something or 'Why you are doing it the way you are doing it'.

"I always ask myself why I am doing it. Once you have a clear picture of 'why', it somehow gives you the freedom of not being too attached to what you're doing or how you're doing it. It helps in understanding that you’ll always find multiple ways of getting things done without losing the purpose."

There is no age factor involved when it comes to training with purpose and Iyengar is a perfect example of that. She shared that she was always active since childhood but never thought her fitness as a purpose but it was in the recently, that she understood what it really means to train with a purpose. "It does not just mean to have a certain type of body but to train to be stronger, better at what you already do."

The difficult part comes when with any kind of fitness routine, people's preferences and their choices matter the best. Something might work out for some and may not click with someone else. At that time it becomes important to understand the person and module your routine in that manner. Even Padmavati agrees- "The best part of being able to teach Zumba is connecting with people and One of the many things working with people has taught me is that a way to have people break their inhibitions is to make them feel included."

Padmavati concludes that it is not necessary that you need to find one thing to call passion and you yourself need to be a passionate person and do things with 100% honesty."I think we as humans feel most accomplished and successful when we feel we’ve made an impact when we’ve added value to lives around us. You can only make an impact when you’re choosing to share an authentic part of you with the world through the things you do in your everyday life," she adds.
