Cricket's biggest celebration during the pandemic, the Dream 11 Indian Premier League, concluded last night with Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians crowned the champions for the 5th time. The two-month cricketing extravaganza was nothing short of a hope-bearer for the sports world, when everything looked dull owing to the COVID-19 restrictions. Not only it unleashed the sportsman spirit of the players, but it also revived the fandom and rivalry among the fans, who were immersed in the action from the comfort of their homes. As a result, this year's IPL was most successful in evoking the social media banter.

To up their games in keeping relevance, every team put out engaging social media posts on their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds that gave the fans content to be engrossed with. This year, the engagement on social media skyrocketed with eye-catching content videos that had fans drooling over. Here's a look at some of the best social media posts by teams that kept Twitter abuzz.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals was at their very best when it comes to social media game. They produced some heart-touching and quirky content which took the fans by surprise. Rajasthan Royals (RR) were delighted after CSK's six-wicket victory over KKR. The win was helpful for other franchises as well. It boosts their chances to qualify for the top four with just seven wins. Before the match, RR had showed their support to CSK with a 'whistle podu' tweet. CSK responded with a popular 'Vadivelu meme', acknowledging the support.

It was Ravindra Jadeja's 11-ball 31* runs knock which sealed the game for CSK. After the victory, Rajasthan tweeted, "Once a Royal, always a Royal. ????" for Jadeja. He was a part of the franchise in 2008 and 2009, and was nicknamed 'rockstar' by legendary spinner Shane Warnewho led the side in their initial years.

Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag emerged as heroes of Rajasthan Royals as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets at Dubai in Match 25 of the on-going IPL 2020. RR's chances of a victory looked slim at one point but the Tewatia-Parag pair stitched a match-winning stand to steer RR past the finishing line.

After registering an emphatic five-wicket victory, RR's social media handle didn't hold back from taking a sly dig at SRH. Following RR's heroics at Dubai on World Biryani Day, they posted on Twitter, "Hey @Zomato, we'd like to place an order for one LAAAAARGE Hyderabadi Biryani. Location: One & Only Royal Mirage."

Ahead of the start of their encounter against KKR, Rajasthan had hogged the limelight on Twitter by posting a hilarious tweet. "3000 RTs to make Tewatia & Jofra open the batting tonight," the Royals had tweeted.

Tewatia and Archer were incredible with the bat against Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings respectively. While Tewatia stole the show with 31-ball 53 including five sixes against Sheldon Cottrell, Archer slammed 27 off 8 including four maximums against CSK. On the back of their impressive form with the willow, RR let fans to decide whether they should open the innings against KKR.

Despite getting a staggering 9.9k retweets on their tweet, RR flagged off their batting with their expected Buttler-Smith pair. The International Cricket Council (ICC), in response to RR's unfulfilled promise, took a sly dig at the franchise by sharing a gif which read– "You sit on a throne of lies."

Kings XI Punjab

Chris Gayle turned the clock back in IPL 2020 as he gave the Rajasthan bowlers a royal hammering to score 99 runs in just 63 deliveries, helping Kings XI Punjab post an imposing total of 185 runs on the board.

He hit 6 fours and 8 sixes during his innings and looked set for his record extending 7th IPL century, before being clean bowled in the final over by Jofra Archer. Gayle completed a huge milestone during the innings as he became the first batsman in history to score 1000 sixes in T20 cricket. Yes, you read it right, 1000 sixes.

KXIP made a creative of Gayle as a WWE player who is one of the heavyweights among IPL. The encounter between Rajasthan Royals and KXIP went down as the biggest run chase in IPL's history after Rahul Tewatia turned the game on its head in the 18th over of the run chase bowled by KXIP's Sheldon Cottrell. Chasing a stiff target of 224, Rajasthan Royals needed 51 from the last three overs. While the watchers of the game believed it was done and dusted, Tewatia was out there to prove otherwise. He ended up ended up with 53 of 31 deliveries that consisted 7 maximums. While he was finally dismissed on the last ball of the 19th over, Jofra Archer (13 not out) and Tom Curran (4 not out) took the Royals home with three deliveries to spare. Pain is what the fans of KXIP felt and the franchise, which was on the losing side, expressed all their feelings through a "Sad Will Smith" meme.

Delhi Capitals

The official Twitter account of Delhi Capitals (DC) turned their pain into humor after a disastrous outing against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2020.

Delhi had a terrible start to their chase while going after a target of 201 in the playoffs. They lost three wickets for naught and then the fourth one on 20 runs. DC social media account took the moment to crack a joke on their poor batting. They quoted a tweet from Donald Trump, which read, "STOP THE COUNT!", and wrote, "Me to the guy updating the wickets column"

Although the fans were not happy with the performance, they couldn't control themselves from having a laugh at it.

Chennai Super Kings

The heartthrob of millions of cricket lovers, MS Dhoni, came up with the brightest news of 2020 for all the cricket lovers as confirmed today that he will continue playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). It is notable that MS Dhoni announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket earlier this year on August 15.

Ever since then, there have been speculations going on that IPL 2020 could prove to be the last time that MS Dhoni will be seen in a Yellow jersey and might announce his retirement from IPL after CSK' poor performance this year. However, in CSK's last game of the season, Dhoni himself confirmed that he will continue playing for CSK as he came out for the toss against Kings XI Punjab.

The undying spirit of an aching MS Dhoni, the turnaround fifty from Ravindra Jadeja and some lusty blows by Sam Curran showed the immense potential that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have. On the night, it was not enough to overhaul a competitive total set by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), as they fell short by an eventually tight 7 runs.

It was the first time since 2014 that CSK have lost three matches on the trot. At one stage, it looked like it would be a walk in the park for the CSK batsmen with SRH's innings motoring along slowly.Following this defeat, CSK posted a self-mocking content sharing a screenshot from the famous Tamil comedy film Kovai Brothers.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

After their win, Sunrisers Hyderabad mercilessly trolled Rajasthan Royals on Twitter after the latter took a subtle dig at the David Warner's side lost to Royals when the two sides last met.

Thangarasu Natarajan, pacer of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) proved to be their death bowling specialist, where he is rattled the best of batsmen with his toe-crushers, ball after ball. His excellence once again came to light in the match against Delhi Capitals (DC). Natarajan dished out 10 yorkers in two overs (14th and 18th), thus playing an important role in restricting DC in its chase. To cheer him, SRH put out "Breaking Bad" themed meme mentioning "I am the one who yorks."

Royal Challengers Bangalore

A video of RCB captain Virat Kohli taking two runs despite RCB needing just a single to win against KKR has gone viral. In the video, Kohli can be seen sprinting for the second run. Reacting to it, a fan tweeted, "Kohli is so obsessed with running 2s." Another fan tweeted, "His love for twos is totally commendable."

Kolkata Knight Riders

Whirlwind assault from Sunil Narine and Nitish Rana and a five-wicket haul by Varun Chakravarthy has helped Kolkata Knight Riders [KKR] to smash the Delhi Capitals by 59 runs in Abu Dhabi.

Chasing 195, the Delhi Capitals were rocked early in their run-chase thanks to a double-strike byPat Cummins in his opening spell.

Chakravarthy did not claim the hat-trick but he continued to chip away at the wickets as Marcus Stoinis became yet another batsman to hole out in the deep, giving the leg-spinner his 4th wicket. And, he wasn't done yet, as he knocked over Axar Patel to notch up the best bowling figures of the season [5-20 in 4 overs].The most striking aspect of Varun's performance is the fact that barring him, none of the other spinners claimed a wicket in the match. While he gave away just 20 runs in his 4 overs for five wickets, the rest of the spinners went for 0-89 in 8 overs. KKR tweeted Chakravarthy's stint as special dialogur Rajanikanth's film.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians bowler Jasprit Bumrah completed his 100 wickets in the Indian Premier League with the dismissal of Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli for just 9 in Abu Dhabi. Incidentally, Kohli was also Bumrah's first ever IPL victim in 2013. Bumrah started IPL journey with Mumbai Indians in 2013 and took three crucial wickets — including that of Virat Kohli — in the debut. Seven years later, he has 100 wickets in 89 matches and an economy of 7.53. The moment was shared by the official Twitter handle of Mumbai Indians.
