Churchill Brothers unhappy with I-League refereeing
Two-time I-League champions Churchill Brothers FC are not enjoying a season to remember this time as they are currently at the bottom of the table. Recently, they lost to debutants NEROCA FC in a home fixture which added salt to their wounds. Club boss Churchill Alemao feels that they have always been on the wrong side of refereeing decisions and were robbed of vital points. Visiting team NEROCA FC was awarded a penalty in the 22nd minute which was converted by Felix Chidi. It was the only goal of the match and also the decisive one. Alemao feels that the penalty was uncalled for, and even if it was awarded, they should have got three penalties during the game.

Just look at the goal that we conceded (from a penalty). It was unfair. Even if the referee believed that the penalty was genuine, despite the faintest of touch, how could we be denied at least three penalties.' With just 3 wins, 1 draw and 6 losses, Churchill Brothers have accumulated just 10 points from their fixtures. It will be an uphill task for them from now to save relegation from the top flight. The Goa-based side now have two consecutive home matches in quick succession, they will have the perfect opportunity to grab full points and make a comeback in the I-League. Alemao, however, feels they have a quality side which has the capability of defeating any team in the I-League. 'We have a good team now, capable of defeating any team in the league. The foreign players and additions have strengthened the team,' confessed Alemao. They are scheduled to play league leaders Minerva Punjab FC on Friday and then defending champions Aizawl FC will pay a visit to Goa for their match on February 6.
