One cannot help but be in harmony with the kind of benefits that team sports have to offer - competence, character, confidence and other components of positive growth. India’s newest billionaire Byju Raveendran believes it too, as The Economic Times reports, according to the 37-year-old entrepreneur, sports help develop the best of employee skills and standards, which in turn, improves the team spirit.

So enthusiastic is Raveendran about sports development that last year, his owned company, Byju, took around a hundred of its performers to Russia for the football World Cup event. According to the reports by The Economic Times, most employees look for better opportunities and constant physical growth. “This generation wants to rectify, modify and improve themselves on a real-time basis. Appreciating their work and giving them due credit urges them to perform well,” said he.

The entrepreneur, in fact, stressed on how becoming involved with the various facets of sports, from the discipline of training to a stable teamwork balance, could provide lifelong benefits for not just athletes but for the common man as well. As The Economic Times quoted Raveendran saying, “Team sports like football or cricket are great teachers of teamwork. They sharpen your instincts and make you aware of the tangible benefits of team spirit and working together...Sportsmen like Lionel Messi, Roger Federer, and Brian Lara are a real inspiration because they have redefined the game itself. With every passing year, they only play better and set new benchmarks.”

The country is on the verge of a dramatic period of wealth creation and destruction at the same time. A fresh crop of self-made entrepreneurs is joining the clubs of the well-heeled, helping the country’s economy grow at a much rapid pace, Raveendran is one among them. The former classroom teacher had little thought that a mere education app that began as a virtual start-up will go on to be valued at $6 billion in only seven years’ time. Byju has now earned a household name, with an approach very simple yet effective. It aims to captivate children by turning academic content to more crisp and gripping attention spans.
