BWF World Championship 2019: Day 6 Full Schedule of Indian Badminton Players

After a dose of high-adrenaline clashes at the quarter-finals of the BWF World Championship, Day 6 of action will witness similar instances of instinct, passion, and aggression taking over. It was a series of mouth-watering clashes for both P V Sindhu and Sai Praneeth, one which every badminton lover wanted to happen. On a double delight for India, both shuttlers cleared the quarterfinal bout and advanced to the semi-finals scheduled for Day 6. Praneeth, however, stole hearts after he became the first male shuttler in a span of 36 years to grab a podium for India in the World Championship.   

Bronze in 2013, again in 2014, and a silver in 2017, Sindhu will look forward to fine-tuning her game and continue her remarkable feat at the World Championship this year around too. With a fifth medal assured, Sindhu will be the cynosure of all eyes as she carries India’s hopes at the World Championship. The first game between Sindhu and Tai Tzu Ying was played at an energy-sapping pace as the two hit out at each other at quick intervals until a rampaging Tai Tzu got the better of the Indian and built a massive 21-12 lead. The second game began on a similar competitive note, and eventually, Sindhu used her length, reach and steep smashing coupled with a few unforced errors from Tai Tzu to demolish the Chinese 23-21. Having pocketed the second set, Tai Tzu’s opening lead with seven points in the third game triggered an adrenaline rush among the Sindhu fans. A couple of power-packed smashes helped Sindhu level the scores with the Chinese. It was 17-17 when two mistakenly judged hits cost a helpless Tai Tzu two points on the game. Fifth-seeded Sindhu took the lead and stylishly cruised to a surprisingly lopsided 12-21, 23-21, 21-9 victory over the former World No.1.

Praneeth, on the other side of the action, was as phenomenal as ever. A ravaging Praneeth had to dig deep to win the two sets, as fans witnessed a head-to-head battle between the two. Christie lacked precision and looked to change gears after Praneeth built on an unassailable lead in the first game. Praneeth edged past an otherwise fiery Christie with a dominating 24-21 win in the first set. The second game followed suit, with Praneeth having the last laugh and sealing a scintillating 21-14 victory over the Indonesian.

Kento Momota and Praneeth will square off in what will be a much-anticipated contest on Day 6 as the duo face each other in the men’s singles category. Sindhu will look forward to better her chances of securing gold this year as she takes on fourth-seeded Chen Fu Yin of China in the semi-finals.
