The Indian recurve women's team of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat and Bombayla Devi will gun for greater glory as they play in the Olympic qualifying event tomorrow. Ace Indian archer Deepika Kumari is the top seed in women's recurve Olympic qualifying event. The event has three individual quotas for the Olympic Games next year. Out of three, only one Indian woman can secure a quota.

The Indian compound mixed team of Abhishek Verma and Jyothi Surekha Vennam continued with their impressive campaign on Wednesday after defeating the Chinese Taipei pair of Chen Yi-Hsuan Chen and Chien-Lun Chen to clinch the only gold for India at the Asian Archery Championships in Bangkok. Earlier, the pair had triumphed over South Korean in the semi-finals 159-154 to advance to the finals.

Abhishek Verma and Jyothi Surekha Vennam claimed the top honours in compound mixed pair event to fetch India's lone gold medal.

In the other matches of the day, the men’s compound team of Abhishek Verma, Rajat Chouhan, and Mohan Ramswaroop Bharadwaj lost to second seed Korea 232-233 to walk away with a silver medal. Up against a formidable Korean pair, the women’s team, too, consisting of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Muskan Kirar, and Priya Gurjar had to settle for silver after losing by a wide margin, 215-231.

Earlier yesterday, Indian archers showcased a brilliant performance as they bagged a total of three bronze medals. The first bronze medal of the day was won by Atanu Das in the men’s recurve individual event after he defeated Jin Hayek Oh of Korea in the shoot-off in what was a thrilling bronze medal clash. Later in the day, he teamed up with Tarundeep Rai and Jayanta Talukdar to register a win against China 6-2 in the bronze medal contest. The Indian recurve women’s team was no far, as the trio of Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi, and Ankita Bhakat prevailed over Japan 5-1 to win another bronze medal for India.

On Monday, the ace Indian archers and couple Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari had won a bronze medal in the recurve mixed team event after beating China’s Yichai Zheng and Shaoxuan Wei 6-2. India overall finished with a total of seven medals including one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals at the Championships.
