13-year-old Chandni Srinivasan to represent India in World Junior Tennis Championship

Chandni now regularly competes in U12 and U14 categories. In her very first AITA Tournament three years ago, she reached the quarterfinal.

Hyderabad girl Chandni Srinivasan is all set to represent India at the World Junior Tennis Championship for Under 14 to be held in Goldcoast in Australia next month.

Ranked No.2 in AITA Rankings, Chandni has been selected alongside Shruthi Ahlawat and Riya Sachdeva from Haryana and Delhi respectively. Earlier, the now 13-year-old had represented the Indian Under 12 team at Asian U-12 Championship in Kazakhstan in 2018.

Chandni started playing Tennis at the age of eight while studying in Bhavan's School, Sainikpuri. Having come through various local tournaments, she now regularly competes in U12 and U14 categories. In her very first AITA Tournament three years ago, she reached the quarterfinal.

I am thankful to AITA for selecting me to represent the country. I believe in 3Ps that is- Perseverance, Patience and Perspiration. There is no substitute for hard work,” she was quoted as saying by Hans India.

After the Asian Championship, Chandni is eyeing Under 14 Nationals to be held in Delhi. “I want to become a champion tennis player, a journey which will demand dedication, hard work, smart strategy and good wishes.

Among some of her feats is the Under 12 Super Series Tournament in Jassowal where she reached the Quarterfinals and the Triple Title in AITA Championship Series in Karnal in 2018. At present, besides focussing on tennis, she is also studying in Mohun's Grammar School Malakpet.
