Indian paddler Soumyajit Ghosh was slapped with an FIR by a teenager, accusing him of rape. The 24 year old's future is now at risk and he is probably going to be handed an immediate suspension until he is proved to be innocent. The FIR was lodged in Barasat by an 18 year old who said that the table-tennis star had retracted promises of marriage. However, Soumyajit Ghosh has denied all charges and instead has accused this woman of having blackmailing him for a while now. He said that the woman has been taking money from him for a while and that even he bore the medical expenses for a relative of hers. "I have receipts of more than Rs 1 lakh that I have paid her," said the 24 year old paddler. Ghosh admitted to the fact that he indeed promised to marry her but things had taken a turn for the worse and he did not want to continue with it owing to the constant blackmailing onslaught on the part of the woman. 'I introduced her as my fiancee publicly after I received the Arjuna award in 2016. But I got tired of her blackmailing me only for money.', admitted Ghosh. The TTFI GenSec, M.P. Singh said that an executive meeting had taken place in the morning and a decision will be announced soon. He also added,"My personal opinion is since the allegations are so grave, Ghosh should be suspended with immediate effect. If the investigation clears him of any wrongdoing, he can return to the fold immediately.' The Indian paddlers are supposed to return home on March 25. The 10-member CWG squad is scheduled to undergo a pre-tournament dope test on March 27, before it departs to Gold Coast the next day. The police said that an investigation is being conducted and nothing could be revealed at the moment.
