In an unfortunate turn of events, an official of the Malaysian contingent was charged with sexual assault by the Queensland State Police during the ongoing Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The Games have been quite full of drama so far and this incident was the latest among them. As per the reports of Reuters, Kaysee Teerovengadum, Chef de mission of Mauritius was found guilty of 'inappropriate touching' javelin thrower Jessika Selma Rosun. Following the developments, the official stepped down from his post. 'Police will charge the 52-year-old Mauritian man who assaulted a 26-year-old woman in Southport on March 29. The matter was reported to police who charged the man with one count of sexual assault today,' was stated by the Police. As per sources, it is learnt that Teerovengadum has left athletes' village but is still in Gold Coast due to various Police investigations. He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on April 17. In Kaysee's absence, Richard Pipe, a vice-president of the National Olympic Committee will take up the former's duty. Richard is also the assistant secretary general of the Mauritius Olympic Committee. Mauritius is currently at the 13th position in the overall medals tally at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games with just a Silver medal in their bag!
