A lot could have escaped your notice but it is unlikely that Saina Nehwal threatening the IOA to not play India's matches unless her father's accreditation was cleared was one of the things you didn't see. Now let's talk about Meghna Reddy Gundlapally, India's only representative in Rhythmic gymnastics. Halfway through the games, from TOI reports, it looks like Meghna Gundlapally is not just India's sole representative, but she is also training all by herself since her coach's accreditation was not granted. Without the accreditation, which acts as a permit into the training areas as well as a required document to get lodging in the Commonwealth village, Meghna is left all alone to train after the IOA proved to be of no help to her.

The Indian gymnasts have already faced penalisation after failing to sport the appropriate logo on their uniforms and now, Meghna has been reported to complain that it was IOA's refusal to help her coach, Varvara Filiou Bapbapa, a former Olympian from Greece, get clearance of accreditation. Without the accreditation, Varvara was reduced to a spectator in the stands, while Meghna continued her preparations in the most crucial hour, all by herself, with no one to guide her or brainstorm with her. Before the Indians left for the Gold Coast, Men's artistic gymnast, Ashish Kumar faced a similar problem when his personal coach Manoj Rana was denied accreditation by the IOA to visit him during the day hours. According to rules, Meghna would have faced penalty for all her routines if she failed to have a coach to accompany her to the competition carpet. The crisis was averted after it was informed that gymnastics team manager, Makarand Joshi, will be at the coaches' corner to encourage Meghna, which would help her avoid a penalty. In the Commonwealth Games trials, Meghna had topped the trials in her event. She has been training with Varvara who is an eight-time Greek champion. With little representation, the least that could be done for the Indian gymnasts is to make sure that they do not have to fret over logistics that they have no control over.
